Thursday Nights at Babydoll’s we highlight Albuquerque’s best and brightest jazz & blues singers and musicians!

This week we're proud to welcome back to our stage, powerhouse blues singer Casey Lafferty with JR & the BluesMakers.

Born and raised in the golden fields of Kansas, Casey Lafferty grew up with music woven into every part of her life. Raised on church hymns and encouraged by her preacher-musician father, she found her voice in a family rich with songwriters and musicians. Drawn to thoughtful lyrics, soulful storytelling, and timeless melodies, her musical influences include legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, and Billie Holiday. Casey has performed in concert at the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater for the New Mexico Jazz Workshop’s Women’s Voices series and AAPAC Presents Afriquerque at the African American Performing Arts Center. She regularly performs with the Black Smoke Blues Band and JR and the BluesMakers, where her love for collaboration and live performance continues to thrive. 

JR & the BluesMakers have played in or managed local bands for several decades. Bandleader Jack Rogers (JR), who plays guitar and slide guitar, has performed alongside Casey in several bands over the past nine years. The lineup also features Jim West on guitar, Kyle Newman on bass, and Robert Stamm on drums. They play a variety of traditional blues, R&B, and selected blues-rock songs that are familiar and fun to dance to.
