Sip & Swing Sundays at Babydoll's showcases local jazz and blues artists as well as up-and-coming musicians.
This week we proudly welcome vocalist and local favorite Abby Maxwell. Abby has been a part of the Albuquerque music community for over twenty years. She studied musical theater at Boston University and San Diego State. Abby toured the US, Canada, and Jamaica with the vocal group Sisters of Soul, and collaborated with R&B, Jazz, and alternative artists in Chicago. She is an actor and contributing writer with The Acting Workshop Chicago.
Her band 'Abby Q and the Dukes' had a one-year residency at Buffalo Thunder Casino in Santa Fe. In 2010 she co-founded and regularly performs with the SWAG Duo and is the lead vocalist for the band Los Radiators with whom she’s recorded two studio albums. She was also a featured vocalist in Albuquerque the Magazine’s November 2024 issue. Abby has performed multiple times for the New Mexico Jazz Workshop’s Jazz Under the Stars “Women’s Voices” and “Ladies Sing the Blues” series at the Albuquerque Museum. She is also a sought-after studio vocalist on many local artist’s projects. Abby will be joined by Babydoll’s The Art of Jazz band with Sid Fendley on piano, Jack Hanan on bass, Dan Dowling on guitar and Wayne Johnson on drums.
Doors open at 2pm. Showtimes are 2:30 and 4:15. Tickets are $15 (see reservations link). Age restricted to 21+. Dress to impress!
